9:45am - 1pm
The plan is to be outside. Inside only if it’s raining. Their parking lot is in the rear and there’s a tree lined strip of grass between it and the sidewalk and that’s where the paintings (and probably the sign up area) will be.
Lots of stuff to sketch regardless if you're entering the competition.
Initial meetup is a loose affair as people get there at different times. Look for people with sketching bags if you’re unsure and just say hi. If we have a distinct meetup place we’ll mention it in the post. At the end of event (I think this time it will be whenever the judging is over, undetermined exact time), we meetup for a group photo and throw down of all the sketches and we get pics of the art for posting. It’s important we share what we do to encourage others! Everyone has a unique style and level of ability. It’s all about sharing, encouragement and acceptance.
If you’re going and on Facebook, we kindly ask that you mark that you’re going. It’ll REALLY help us when we post all of our art on social media. We print out a list that helps us organize who did what and then get your social media tags and can mark it down on our sheet. We want you to be recognized!
Urban Sketchers Manifesto
1.) We draw on location, indoors or out, capturing what we see from direct observation.
2.) Our drawings tell the story of our surroundings, the places we live, and where we travel.
3.) Our drawings are a record of time and place.
4.) We are truthful to the scenes we witness.
5.) We use any kind of media and cherish our individual styles.
6.) We support each other and draw together.
7.) We share our drawings online.
8.) We show the world, one drawing at a time.
