77th Annual One World Day in Cleveland Cultural Gardens

Cleveland, OH – Since 1945 the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation (CCGF) has celebrated One World Day which exemplifies the theme of the Gardens: “Peace through Mutual Understanding.”  Plans are in the works for the 77th annual One World Day which will be held on Sunday August 27, 2023 from 11 AM – 6PM throughout the Gardens on both East and MLK Boulevards.

Tens of thousands of people attend One World Day to experience diversity in people, heritages, gardens, entertainment and food.  With the streets closed to traffic, visitors can stroll, bike, scoot or ride the free shuttles throughout the 250 acre footprint and visit many of the 35 or so Gardens.

Special attractions include a moving Naturalization Ceremony where people from a dozen or so countries become US citizens.  A highlight is the Parade of Flags where hundreds of marchers from dozens of cultures march with flags and traditional clothing of their heritage.  The Parade of Flags has grown into a large and colorful display of the numerous heritages represented in the Gardens and the broader Cleveland community.

Throughout the day there will be ethnic and cultural performances on the main stage at the Centennial Peace Plaza but also in most of the Gardens.  When people visit a Garden they will experience the culture of that community. Kids of all ages will enjoy the interactive Children’s Village and adults can relax in one of the Beer Gardens in the German and Irish Gardens.

As always there will be special guests, performances and attractions which will be announced as we get closer to the big day.

One World Day Producer Johnny Wu says, “One World Day has become a “must-do” event in Cleveland on the last Sunday of August each year.  Free admission, free parking, free entertainment and more make it a family-friendly event to bring summer to a close.”

Parking can be found at the Cleveland Metroparks (based on availability) lot to the north, or the VA Hospital’s employee parking lot at 1606 E. 105th Street, Cleveland, OH 44106. A shuttle will be available to bring patrons to and from the VA employee parking lot to the south entrance of One World Day.
