Ohio Plein Air Society is having a paint out and it’s also International Urban Sketchers Week May 1-7, so let’s meet up here and get our sketching on. The OPAS people are meeting at the gazebo around 8:45 am and then meeting back at 2pm. We can see what they come up with if we want, but can also make our own schedule.

Let's Sketch Wade Lagoon

At the confluence of Euclid Ave, MLK Blvd and East Blvd.

Hi all, the Glass Bubble couldn't accommodate the size of our potential group, so we're going to sketch Wade Lagoon instead. Some of the ornamental trees might still be in bloom. If the weather is lousy we can sketch inside the Cleveland Museum of Art instead. Hope to see everyone soon! Free parking at meters on weekend, and no meters on MLK Blvd to the west of the lagoon.

Let's Sketch the Hermit Club

Sunday March 30th, 2025 1:30pm - 4pm

One of Cleveland's best kept secrets, the Hermit Club is now part of the Hofbrau Haus. There's the potential for nice weather, and if so, we can sketch the Greyhound Bus Station across the street on Chester Ave. It's a streamline art deco gem. These buildings are all a part of the renaissance of the Playhouse Square neighborhood. There should be ample street parking which is free on weekends. There may be a matinee of some type going on at the theaters which might complicate parking. We'll see.

This should be fun. It's been on our 'go to' list for years. At the corner of Adelbert and Euclid Ave in University Circle. A great old beaux-arts building with a medical library and museum. A win win!! Note the SATURDAY date and the early start time (museum closes at 4). Hope to see everyone there!

Let’s Sketch the Cleveland Natural History Museum

Date: January 26th, 2025

Time: 1:20pm - 4pm.

The museum has a Visitors Hall that’s always free and is huge. Those wishing to pay to check out the whole museum are welcome to as well, but there really is a ton of stuff to sketch without charge. Street parking is free on the weekend if you can find a meter. Website says pencil only, so proceed with caution with other media.

Let’s Sketch the Browsing Room Bookstore and Cafe

Date: December 29th, 2025

Time: 1:30pm - 4pm.

Place: 1301 E 9th St 1st floor, Cleveland, OH 44114

Located in the Galleria, downtown Cleveland it’s tucked in the back.We’ve never sketched the Galleria before so this should be fun. We can stay back by the bookstore or explore the whole glass Galleria. The bookstore closes at 3 on Sundays but we can do still do our thing.

Let’s Sketch the Cleveland Museum of Art

Date: Sun. November 24, 2024

Time: 1:30-4:00pm

Place: The Cleveland Museum of Art

Always a great turnout for this one! Join us to sketch at the Cleveland Museum of Art. We’ll meet on the benches in the middle of the atrium at 1:30 and again at 4:00pm. Entrance is free. Parking: $14 non-members, $7 members. Parking can be reserved online in advance.

CMA Current Rules:

1. One bag smaller than 13 x 17 x 6 inches is permitted. Nothing carried on one’s back. 

2. Dry media only in the galleries.

3. Coat check is open, large bags and other items (chairs, easels, etc,) are not permitted.

Note: Small folding stools are available throughout the museum on racks.

4. Cafe open Sundays 10-4pm, with snacks, beverages, pastries, grab-and-go sandwiches, and some hot food.
