Let's Sketch the Rocky River Nature Center

 

February 26th, 1pm to 4pm. The Rocky River Nature Center is packed with displays. Lots to see, learn and most of all, sketch! It features a river observation deck and a bird feeding station as well. Cleveland Metroparks for the win!

Let's Sketch CLE Public Library on a Saturday

Join us to sketch at the Cleveland Public Library Main Branch on Saturday, January 21. Because the library is closed on Sundays, this event is on a Saturday. Many beautiful architectural details inside and great views of the Mall from the top floors.

Let's Sketch The Cleveland History Center

Come sketch with us at the Western Reserve Historical Society (the Cleveland History Center) on Sunday the 18th from 1 to 4pm. The center CLOSES at 4, so we're going to have to gather to see everyone's sketches at 3:30 in the front lobby. It opens at 10am if you want to see the whole museum and still have time to draw. DRY MEDIA ONLY. 

LOTS TO SKETCH. Cars, planes, the Euclid Beach carousel, the big Chief Wahoo, Cleveland history exhibits, vintage dresses, the mansion itself with all it's architectural ornamentation, there's something for everyone! Unfortunately there is a charge for this one. Mention the urban sketchers and get $2 off admission, so it will be $13, $11 for seniors over 62. There's also a parking flat rate of $8, just bring your ticket in to get the discount. 

Google "Cleveland History Center" to see all the contributor photographs people have uploaded to get an idea of the breadth of things to see. It's incredible. The auto museum alone has an entire floor of just Cleveland related cars (it was neck and neck between Cleveland and Detroit as to which city was going to be the auto capital of the world at one point).

Meet at benches in atrium

Join us to sketch at the Cleveland Museum of Art. We’ll meet on the benches in the middle of the atrium at 1:30 and again at 4:00pm. Entrance is free, no longer need to reserve tickets in advance. Parking: $14 non-members, $7 members. Parking can be reserved online in advance.

CMA Current Rules:

1. Face masks optional.

2. One bag smaller than 13 x 17 x 6 inches is permitted. Nothing carried on one’s back. 

3. Dry media only in the galleries.

4. Coat check is open, large bags and other items (chairs, easels, etc,) are not permitted.

5. Cafe open Sundays 11-4pm, with snacks, beverages, pastries, grab-and-go sandwiches, and some hot food.

Park Synagogue is nationally recognized for its unique architecture and is situated within a beautiful wooded lot which should make for some great subject matter. The Nature Center at Shaker Lakes will be our fall back location in case of poor weather, enabling us to take advantage of fall leaf color in either case. They're about 3 miles from each other.

Let's Sketch and Paint at BayArts

 Date : Sunday Sept. 25, 2022 

Time: 10:00- 4:00pm

Join us for a joint event with BayArts for Plein Air painting and sketching at Huntington Reservation. Our event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 25 with sketching or painting starting at 10:00am. If you want to participate in the larger event on other days with cash prizes, see the attached link.

Time-line for Sunday event

8 AM - 10 AM: Quick Paint Registration - stamp canvas. Register in person, $10 to paint. 

Free to sketch on your own.

10 AM - 12 PM: Quick Paint or Sketch

12:00 - 12:30: Sketch throw down, Brown bag lunch together

12 PM - 2 PM: Live judging by Jeff Suntala of the Quick Paint submission and other submissions on the BAYarts Campus.

2 PM - 4 PM Artist reception and Prize Awards for entire event. Work displayed for public viewing and purchase. Chatty’s Pizza and beverages will be available for purchase on the Fuller House Porch.
