Old Coast Guard Station - Cuyahoga River

Thumbnails

Old Coast Guard Station at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River.
Sketches from Wendy Park and the old Coast Guard Station, now being renovated by the Metroparks. Listed on the National on the National Register of Historic Places, it's an Art Deco jewel -- one of a handful of Cleveland buildings made in the style. It was designed to look like a ship by J. Milton Dyer, the same architect that designed Cleveland's city hall.

Gate to secret garden beside the house.

Urban Sketcher Cleveland events took me to Asia Night Market at E. 36 & Rockwell, then a few days later to the Cleveland Restoration Society at E. 37 & Prospect. Always fun to discover hidden gems in the CLE.

From the Women's International Air & Space Museum sketch outing in February.  This is a flight simulator training plane.  It reminds me very much of things you see from TWA in the 1960s.

February 2016 Sketch Outing

Join us for our monthly sketch outing on Saturday, February 27th, 2016 from noon to 2pm at the Women's International Air & Space Museum at Burke Lakefront Airport.  It is located at 1501 North Marginal Road, Cleveland, OH.  There is a paid lot in front of the airport.  If the weather is really cold, I would suggest paying for parking as the nearest free parking is going to be on Lakeside (east side of East 9th).  Admission to the museum is free.

We do have permission to sketch in the museum, but please be respectful of other visitors and travelers making their way through the museum and airport.  Stools should be fine, but please leave paint and bottles of ink at home.

A reminder that we did move the sketch outing to Saturday which does open up more indoor venues for us.

If you have any questions or comments, please leave a note on this posting or on our Facebook page.
